How To Treat Arthritis Using Magnetic Therapy
What is arthritis?
There are different forms of arthritis and other forms of rheumatic disease. These diseases can cause stiffness, pain and joint swelling accompanied by swelling in other muscle organs like the tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Internal organs are also vulnerable to different forms of arthritis.
Arthritis is a considered to be a term that commonly describes all the rheumatic diseases, but the word essentially means a joint inflammation - swelling, heat, pain, and redness that is caused by an injury in the tissues, or a disease that is affecting the joint. The different types of arthritis are just a part of rheumatoid conditions.
Other body parts are affected by the second most popular type of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis starts as a swelling at a tender age, followed by redness in joints or swelling. The net effect at first is making people feel tired and feverish. This is not the way to notice it because it is different for most patients.
Some people are lucky enough to experience it for a short while like a year or less, and then it goes away. Others have moderate forms of arthritis which exhibit flares (worse symptoms), and periods of remissions (feel better). Others also have extreme forms of arthritis that are active almost all the time which can last a lifetime leading to disability because of joint damage.
Osteoporosis is common among the aged in society, and it is the most common type of arthritis. It is also called osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease. Osteoarthritis often attacks the cartilage; this is the tissue that protects the bones in a joint. Bones glide over one another when the cartilage is healthy, making it possible to absorb any shock in any physical activity. The cartilage breaks down in osteoarthritis to allow the bone to rub against each other which is a painful experience. Over time, the joint easily loses its shape and small growths called osteophytes can grow in the joint edges.
Pieces of cartilage or bones can grow in the joint cavity to cause damage or pain. Patients with osteoarthritis have limited movement because of joint pain. Osteoarthritis is not the same as the other types of arthritis because it does not affect internal organs, it only affects the joints.
Causes of arthritis pain
There are different sources of arthritis pain. This may include inflammation of the synovial joint ( tissues that lines the joints), the ligaments, or the tendons; fatigue and muscle strain. When these factors are combined, it intensifies the pain.
Arthritis pain is different in each person for reasons that are unknown. Factors contributing to arthritis pain include the level of heat in the joints, swelling of the joint, or damage in the joint. Additionally, there are different activities that affect the level of pain in the joint. It can be getting out of bed, while others feel the pain after prolonged use of the joint in activities such as walking. Each person has a pain tolerance that is usually affected by emotional and physical factors. These include anxiety, depression, and hypersensitivity on the inflamed tissues.
Magnetic treatments for arthritis
Since arthritis involves inflammation, all forms of arthritis respond to a treatment called magnetic therapy. Magnets are used to reverse the inflammatory process that alleviates the main signs of artists pain, swelling & stiffness and immobility.
How do magnetics work in the inflammation process?
The body reacts to chemical, physical damage or an infectious agent by inflammation; this reaction is the body’s oldest defense system. The inflammation process kicks in within seconds when damage occurs within the body’s automatic defense system. Blood flow increases at the injury point as blood vessels vasodilate allowing oxygen, white blood cells, and clotting agents to get to the damaged tissue. After a few hours, white blood cells concentration increases at the point of injury.
The inflammatory process affects individual cells, and since the extra fluid has shifted to the blood vessels, it passes into the damaged cells; this allows for the ionic balance to be disrupted. Cellular degeneration begins, and the chemical balance changes.
When the extra fluid of white blood cells increases blood flow to the tissues, it causes the injured part to swell. If it is left untreated, chronic diseases such as fibromyalgia or arthritis is caused.
Now, in the inflamed region, when static magnets are placed over the area, the magnetic field penetrates into the bloodstream and tissues. The damaged cells will react by realigning the iron into the right position. This is the process that will enable the process of shifting the excess fluid from this region. The damage to the cell will stop, and healing will commence after a few days.
The white blood cells that are fighting the disease on the injured part will be affected by the magnetic fields. During the defense process of the white blood cells, toxins are released by the white blood cells into the bloodstream. Since the body is not able to safely excrete these toxins, they are stored in the tissues as cellulite ( tiny hard pockets of fluid.)
Using the magnetic field, toxins that are in the tissue as drawn out as blood passes through the tissues. These toxins are then transported to the liver for detoxification, and they are excreted to the kidneys. If there is increased inflammation in the body, the damage caused will start to repair since rich and fresh blood is being supplied to the area. Tissues regeneration begins as excess fluid is excreted from the body. The magnetic fields will stabilize the processes and help in the recovery process.
There is an unknown cure for arthritis, so magnets are not to be classified in this manner, but they are an effective drug-free treatment plan for arthritis condition and other forms of chronic disease. Although we have seen how magnets play a role in arthritis treatment, it can be tricky for someone who has arthritis on various body parts; this is because magnets have to be placed as close to the area of injury as possible. If a person has arthritis in the hands, back, hips, and knees. It is hard to get too all these areas with a magnet. Different magnets will be used in each area to relieve the pain, fully.
The Possible treatments for someone with arthritis in different areas of the body
The person can wear strong magnetic straps around the hips/back (one strap in each region), knees and wrists. Straps are comfortable and functional because they also have lycra that gives additional support to the joint.
The patient can wear strong shoe insoles containing magnetic field strong enough to get to the knees, a super strong bracelet on each hand and a magnetic pad placed at the back while sitting or resting. These are comfortable alternatives for an individual who does not feel comfortable wearing straps.
Another option would be to sleep on a magnetic mattress which covers the entire body. The magnetic field on the body is so intense that it can last approximately 16 hours after waking up from a heavy sleep. If you want to treat the pain easily, getting a magnetic mattress is the best option, and you won't need to carry around magnetic pads and straps through the day.
The good news is that there are very many magnetic devices available for most body parts. This allows patients access to more than one treatment of pain I several areas o the body. Once you get to a trained therapist, you will be advised on the best treatment that fits your lifestyle.
For the magnets to be effective, the patient has to wear them at night and during the day until no more symptoms are experienced. If you are provided for with an uncomfortable wearing device, chances of making the most out of the treatment are low, and you will not get the treatment you need within the stipulated time frame. If you are not exposed to the magnets 24 hours a day seven days a week, it is unlikely for your symptoms to be alleviated and you will be disheartened render the magnets as dysfunctional.
A case study of 65-year-old Maggie
On October 2002, Maggie was diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine and hip. After an orthopedic consultation, it was concluded that Maggie was not fit for joint replacement surgery. A painkilling treatment plan was started, but it was ineffective within a two year period. Her pain levels increased at each outpatient review. In October 2004, Maggie was taking the maximum doses of morphine tables on a daily basis.
In that month, she was severely compromised, and she was dependent on walking sticks. Maggie was depressed, and she went to a magnetic clinic afterward. From a scale of 1 to 10, Maggie’s pain levels were at 7, and it had spread to her feet, her wrist because she was leaning as she walked.
At first, she was provided with a back belt for her spine and hips, insoles for her feet, four to six glasses of magnetized water in a day and straps for her wrist. Maggie was not comfortable with the back belt, and this made her not to comply with the treatment. She was given a pillow pad which she used; she was asked to use it as much as possible during the daytime and at night.
After a week, Maggy’s pain went as low as 0 out of 10; she explained that a day after she started getting the treatment, she nearly lost all her pain. Maggy continued to use the magnetic treatment for a whole month to ensure that her symptoms were completely gone and she continued to take magnetic water.
As an addition, Maggie requested for a magnetic mattress cover that she could use a cover at night together with additional knee straps. During the day, she used the magnetic straps, and at night she used the magnetic mattress cover.
After three weeks, she was feeling terrible, as much as the pain had dissipated, she was experiencing a lot of pain in her knee joints and her hips. It was diagnosed that Maggie was suffering from lack of enough lubrication in her joints due to magnets removing the inflammation around the joint and also due to the effects of arthritis. Maggie started taking chondroitin and glucosamine to aid in repairing of the connective tissues, and to lubricate the joints. Maggie was also advised only to use the magnetic mattress cover at night but not to use the magnetic straps during the day.
Consultation happened after every fortnight over a two months period, where her condition improved her joint lubrication improved thanks to the nutritional supplements, and Maggy found that when she altered the magnetic devices during the day and at night, she was more comfortable. It is tough to identify why Maggy’s joints grated during the magnetic treatment; the only reason that stands is that since she was exposed to the magnetic treatment very quickly, the magnetic fields that were absorbed in excess. When the mattress cover was added, the magnetic fields were so strong, that they removed the inflammation fast enough to leave the joints without a cushion; and this resulted to worn out edges.
The solution was a dosage of magnetism that was strong to get into the body tissues and eliminate her pains, but not so strong to remove the extra fluid around her joints. After this was established, her pain relief was achieved.
